Back Flap! Is it just me that can't say 'back flap' without breakng into the Dora song "backpack backpack!!". Most distracting when discussing reconstruction options with my consultant.
Anyway here we are again preparing for more sodding
surgery in a bid to even up my wonky honkers.
I have had 3 failed attempts at fat grafting following capsular contracture and my original surgeon, Mr Chandreshakar, has recommended me to his esteemed colleague, Mr Iqbal, to discuss alternative solutions.
After a consultation with Mr Iqbal at The Spire in Mossley Hill, Liverpool I have opted for the latissmus dorsi reconstruction. which involves moving some fat and muscle from my back to form my new breast whilst still getting the blood supply from my back.
Though I have private medical insurance Mr Iqbal informs me that he prefers to do the procedure at Whiston Hospital as he has an excellent support team there so I am duly put on the NHS waiting list to await my operation.
Unlike when I had my
mastectomy Whiston hospital has a policy of not sending patients home with their drains still attached so I will be an inmate for a week. After that the recovery time is circa 4-6 weeks with no driving for a month. My thoughts immediately turn to mortgages,
council tax and other bills as the Company I work for don't pay any sick pay and I am the main financial provider in our household. One good thing about private medical insurance is that, if I have qualifying treatment on the NHS, they will pay me £100
a night as an in-patient. Eventually.
I'm in a bit of a dispute with Bupa at the moment as one of their colleagues gave me duff information regarding my reconstruction surgery a few years ago stating that as it wasn't to remove cancerous tissue it was
cosmetic and, therefore, not covered! Turns out this advice was a load of tripe but can I get them to admit they were wrong? Nope.
To be an awkward cow I have exercised my rights to a Subject Access Request (SAR) so they have to send me all recordings
and transcripts of every conversation they have had with me. That'll keep the little buggers busy for a while! It is best not to mess with women of a certain age. It is even better not to mess with women of a certain age who have had cancer!
be in for my op in the next few weeks so I will keep you all posted.
Take Care x
